Eleuterio Pagliano was an Italian painter and lithographer of the Romantic period. He also fought alongside Giuseppe Garibaldi during the Risorgimento. From 1836 to 1848, he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and received several awards during his studies. In 1848, he took part in the Milanese popular uprising against Austrian rule and volunteered for the army in 1849, following his unit to Rome. In 1859, he travelled the surroundings of Rome and subsequently resided in Milan again. With Garibaldi's Alpine fighters, he fought in the Second Italian War of Independence in 1859. In addition to awards for his artistic work, which included portraits, fresco decorations and genre scenes as well as history paintings in the Romantic style, Pagliano also received a medal for his military service in 1860.
