Miklós Barabás was a Hungarian painter who specialised in portraits and genre scenes. In 1829, he began to study art in Vienna. From 1831, he spent two years in Bucharest, where he studied lithography. The years 1834 and 1835 Barabás spent in Italy. In 1840, he settled in Budapest where he portrayed members of the Hungarian upper classes, including Franz Liszt.
