Pierre Esparvier (also Pierre de Sparvier) was a French-born painter who worked mainly in Italy. He was active in Limousin until the mid-1690s. In the following years, he worked in Bologna, then travelled to Rome and finally settled in Florence. Esparvier mostly produced history paintings and portraits. Among his commissioners was Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici. Esparvier’s self-portrait entered the Uffizi Gallery in 1768 with the bequest of the Abbé Pazzi collection.
