La pièce n'est jamais reprise à Broadway, mais elle est adaptée trois fois au cinéma, en 1929, 1937 et 1948. Lorsque la photographie de Steichen représentant les acteurs Barbara Stanwyck et Hal Skelly est publiée dans Vanity Fair en octobre 1927, la pièce est déjà un succès.

Was the private office of Léon METZ (1842-1928).
