Myrna Loy (1905-1993) was an American film and stage actress. She started acting in silent films in 1925. In The Great Ziegfeld, a musical drama about Broadway impresario Florenz Ziegfeld Jr., Myrna Loy played the role of Billie Burke, Ziegfeld’s wife. Edward Steichen visited her on set in the film studio in Hollywood to take this beautifully composed black and white portrait for Vanity Fair.
