Irving Berlin (1888-1989) was one of the most successful and influential American songwriters and composers of the twentieth century. He wrote music for nineteen musicals and eighteen film scores, including hits like There’s No Business Like Show Business, Puttin’ on the Ritz, Cheek to Cheek, and White Christmas. Ellin Mackay was Irving Berlin’s second wife.
Edward Steichen’s family portrait shows Irving and Ellin with their daughters in their apartment in New York. It was published in Vogue in September 1932.
