One of the women (Justice) holds a set of scales; the other three are accompanied by dogs. The banners bear the inscriptions V EEN SCHADE DAT TROWE is LICHTER DAN EEN PLUM. (It is a great pity that Fidelity is lighter than a feather). ICH JAGE OM DIE WINDEN OFT ICH TROWE KONDEN VINDEN. (I search everywhere for fidelity). TROWE IS POET ONTROWE VERDT VERHAVEN (?) (Fidelity is dead; infidelity is detested). ONTROWE LOEPT OVERAL (Infidelity runs rampant). The four compartments of the taque are separated by a globe, surmounted by a cross. The example in the Nancy Museum bears the date 1597 near this globe.
