- Description:
- Old shape, semi-circular. Made of tanned skin and dyed black, it has a small protrusion in the middle large enough to allow the warrior to pass his hand through the hollow formed on the opposite side by the protrusion; a wooden rod, attached by six leather straps, is located inside, allowing the shield to be carried. - Descriptive inventory by Nicolas Van Werveke of the Spring ethnographic collection. N.B.: this is a faithful transcription of Van Werveke's inventory, the terms used in 1898 have not been modified, even those whose use is considered critical today.
