- Description:
- Renaissance decoration. Cylindrical body. Vertical grooves on the shoulder, neck and above the foot. Arched handle. Faces alternating with flowers on the neck. Scenes depicting the story of Susanna on the body. In particular, two old men watch Susanna taking a bath and make advances towards her. Susanna refuses their advances and, in revenge, the old men accuse her of adultery. The prophet Daniel proves her innocence and condemns the old men. Inscriptions: ‘DIT•IS•DIE•SCHONE•HEISTORIA•VAN•SVISANNA•INT•KOKTE•EIT•GESCHNEIDEN*I*5*84•E•P•E•K’ Brown glaze. Pedestal base.
