Alberto Pisa was an Italian painter who mainly painted landscapes, ruins and gardens in watercolour. During a trip to Paris in 1886, he became acquainted with the works of the Impressionists, who had a decisive influence on his style. Alberto Pisa moved to London at the end of the 1880s, but continued to spend much time in Italy, taking part in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. In England, he became known for his vedute paintings (views) and received many commissions as an illustrator of travel literature. In 1921, he returned to Florence and painted numerous other views of Tuscany until the end of his life. In his home town of Ferrara, a street was named Alberto Pisa in his honour.
