Dita Parlo and Joseph Schildkraut in "Gallery Gods"

Dita Parlo (1908-1971) was a German actress. Born in Stettin, Pomerania, she made her first appearance in German films in 1928. Joseph Schildkraut (1896-1964) was born in Vienna, Austria, and trained as an actor in Berlin. By the early 1930s, both had immigrated to the United States. In February 1932, several Broadway productions were reviewed in Vogue, one of which was Gallery Gods, starring Dita Parlo and Joseph Schildkraut. To promote the play, Edward Steichen portrayed the two actors in character.
