DIGITIZATION
BRAINSTORM, DISCUSS
AND DISCOVER DESIGN SOLUTIONS
Museums are not merely custodians of creative arti-
facts, but also creative hubs in themselves. Harnessing
the museum’s new digital platform, the MNHA Design
Jam is an opportunity for the public to connect with
new technologies, exercise their creativity in a series of
design thinking activities, and offer their input about
the future of museum experiences. In partnership with
the Service Numérisation department at the MNHA, I
led two sessions in June open to the public. No prior
experience was required. The event encouraged par-
ticipants to connect with the museum’s collections,
asking them to consider what types of experiences are
important within the museum and on their personal
devices. During these sessions designers, museum pro-
fessionals, and members of the public had the oppor-
tunity to brainstorm, discuss ideas, and discover design
solutions for the new opportunities presented to us by
museum technologies. As a final product, participants
developed their ideas by creating low fidelity proto-
types and presenting briefly on their work.
